We’ve made it—we’re nearly to the final month of 2024, and I’m so happy to give you this exclusive first look at my December bullet journal pages! As we close out the year, I’ve filled my pages with simple, joyful activities to enjoy the holiday season. December can be a busy and emotional month, so this year, I’m keeping things easy and reflective, focusing on moments that bring comfort and peace.
I’m thrilled to share these pages with you before the month officially begins! As always, everything is low-skill and approachable, perfect for celebrating the season in your own way. With just a few magazine clippings, washi tape, and some stickers, we can create a meaningful and memorable close to 2024.
Here’s a glance at what’s in this newsletter:
Simple Advent Joy – A personalized advent calendar with easy, heartwarming activities.
December Playlist – A space for seasonal moments to capture and enjoy throughout the month.
24 in 2024 – A reflection on the year with space to highlight 24 memorable moments.
Simple Advent Joy
December can be magical, but it can also be an emotional time, especially if you’ve had a tough year like me and my family with the loss of my brother last December.
With this in mind, I wanted my advent calendar to be a source of comfort rather than a list of obligations. My Simple Advent Joy spread includes boxes filled with easy, enjoyable activities that I can do from home, at no cost, and with minimal effort. This way, I have the flexibility to embrace the season without feeling pressured to be overly festive if I’m not up for it.
My activities range from cozy experiences like “watch a Christmas movie” and “read by the fire” to simple outings like “go for a walk” and “enjoy the starlight.” As I go through the month, I’ll add color and embellishments to each box, checking them off as I complete each activity.
Make this Advent activity calendar your own:
Option 1 - Traditional Advent: Create a two-page spread and list 25 small activities or self-care moments to enjoy throughout December. Decorate each box with stickers, doodles, or magazine clippings to give it a festive feel.
Option 2 - Minimalist Advent: If a full advent calendar feels like too much, create a smaller list of 5-10 activities that you can revisit anytime throughout the month. Use washi tape or a simple hand-drawn border to highlight each one.
Option 3 - Reflective Advent: Instead of daily activities, use the space to journal a simple intention for each week of December. It could be a word, feeling, or action that you want to focus on as you go through the season.
December Playlist
One of my favorite monthly sections is my “playlist” of simple, seasonal things I want to capture on camera or take note of. It’s my way of being present in the little moments that make this time of year so special.
This month’s playlist will probably include activities like baking cookies, taking late-afternoon walks, sipping hot cocoa, and enjoying the twinkling holiday lights. (There will probably be a lot of cross-over between my playlist and my Advent calendar - the more the merrier!) The idea is to use this spread as a reminder to slow down and appreciate the simple joys around me.
Make it your own:
Option 1 - Full Playlist Spread: Dedicate a whole page to your playlist, listing all the small pleasures you want to capture or experience this month. Decorate with festive stickers or a splash of gold ink.
Option 2 - Mini Playlist: Add a small “playlist” box to your weekly spreads. Note down 1-2 things you want to do or photograph each week, keeping the focus on savoring simple moments.
Option 3 - Memory Log: Instead of planning out moments, use this space to jot down memorable moments as they happen throughout the month. It’s a wonderful way to reflect on the season.
24 in 2024
As I wrap up my 2024 bullet journal, I wanted to take some time to commemorate the year. I created a spread called “24 in 2024” to highlight the 24 most memorable things that happened. It’s my way of reflecting on the year, acknowledging both the joyful and challenging moments.
I’ve earmarked spaces to fill in throughout December, making this a flexible spread to capture what stands out most to me as I look back on the year. It’s a fun, meaningful way to close out the year on a reflective, thankful note.
Make it your own:
Option 1 - Full Spread: Create a two-page spread to list your 24 memorable moments of 2024. Add small doodles or stickers next to each one to capture the essence of each memory.
Option 2 - Mini Highlights: If 24 moments feel like too many, pick your top 10 or 12. Arrange them in a simple layout, using small symbols (stars, hearts, etc.) to mark each memory.
Option 3 - Year in Photos: If you prefer a more visual approach, print small photos or cut out magazine clippings that represent your key moments from the year. Create a photo collage in your journal to capture 2024 at a glance.
Ready to Dive into December?
I hope these spreads inspire you to create space for joy, reflection, and self-care as we close out 2024. December is a time to embrace simple, merry joys, gather memories, and set the stage for the new year ahead.
Coming next is our official December kick-off, which will be an invitation to soak the marrow out of the last 31 days of the year.
