Hello, Journal Friends!
Yesterday, I shared my full January page reveal and hope that you’re feeling as inspired as I am for the new year.
Today, in this bonus video, I’m zooming in on one of my favorite parts: the January goals spread. This is where I set monthly intentions, create mini-challenges, and get specific with the habits I want to cultivate this month.
In this January goals video I’m sharing today, you’ll get a closer look at each section of my goals set-up. From creating “SPACE” for a gentle start to the new year, to a cozy hygge section and health reset, these spreads are all about helping me ease into 2025 without pressure. If you’re looking to bring a similar focus to your month, I’m including a few ideas to help make these spreads your own!
Create SPACE for January: A Slower Start to the New Year
January doesn’t have to be about high-energy hustle. In my journal, I’m using “SPACE” as a reminder to cultivate an intentional pace for the start of the year. Each letter represents an area of focus: Silence, Prayer, Attentiveness, Connection, and Expectancy—themes that are resonating with me as we move more fully into winter.
Make this idea your own:
Choose Your Own Acronym: Reflect on a few key values you’d like to carry through the month and create an acronym that reminds you to stay true to these themes.
List Intentions by Category: Use categories like “Mind,” “Body,” “Soul,” or “Home” to set small intentions for each area.
Set a “Gentle Start” Reminder: January can feel slow after the holidays, so consider setting small, easy goals—like quiet mornings or regular breaks—that let you ease into your new year with grace.
Health Reset: Track Habits & Embrace Small Changes
After a holiday season full of treats, I’m craving a reset, so I set up a sugar-free tracker for the month and a daily workout tracker to help me focus on health. I’ve added a space to jot down how I’m feeling along the way, which is great for tracking energy and motivation.
Make it Your Own:
Track One Key Habit: Whether it’s drinking more water, walking every day, or eating more veggies, set up a simple tracker to focus on one priority that aligns with your health goals.
Create a Weekly or Biweekly Health Log: If daily tracking feels overwhelming, use a weekly log to record reflections on your energy, mood, and progress.
Keep it Small & Flexible: Rather than using a tracker, jot down one simple health-related step you took in your weekly or monthly calendar squares and then reflect on much they add up by the end of the month.
Hygge & Cozy Vibes: Finding Comfort in Winter
Nothing says January like cozy moments, so I created a hygge section to inspire little joys through the month. Think thick socks, candlelit evenings, tea breaks, and winter walks. My spread includes a few of these ideas, which are perfect for making the cold days feel special.
Make it Your Own:
Add a Winter Self-Care Checklist: Jot down easy ways to add warmth to your routine, like a warm drink before bed or time spent by the fire. (Note: Pinterest is great source for ideas for this!)
Sketch or Sticker Your Cozy Goals: Make this spread your own with small doodles or stickers that capture the winter vibe, like a mug of tea or cozy scarf.
List Small Comforts: Keep a running list of the little things that make winter brighter for you, whether it’s a favorite candle scent, your go-to cozy spot, or a seasonal activity you love.
I hope these ideas help spark your own January intentions and that you feel inspired to bring some of these winter-friendly themes into your month. And if you missed it, you can still catch the full January page reveal video from yesterday to see how everything came together.
Here’s to a January filled with intention, inspiration, and just enough space for everything that lies ahead.
Cheers, ~Steph
